About Rotary District 9142
Rotary is 1.4
million members in over 47,00 clubs all over the world. Together, we see
a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change -
across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves. Rotary District
9142 is made up of almost 2000 members in more than 9 Rotary Clubs.
Although
all clubs operate within the general Rotary International framework,
each club has its own district personality, participates in its select
service projects, and organizes its own fundraisers.
Rotary
District 9142 provide support to our clubs through webinars, trainings,
conferences and assemblies, district-focused grants, and even some
social fellowship events.
*HISTORY OF ROTARY CLUB OF OWERRI NEWTOWN*
The Rotary Club of Owerri Newtown held its first meeting as a provisional club online in December 2022. It metamorphosed to physical meeting on Tuesday, 10th of January 2023 at Greatwood Hotels PortHarcourt Road Owerri under the able supervision of Rtn. Chukwuemeka Ohajunwa. This was during Synergizer Year, Rotary club of Owerri Newtown was chartered without a sponsoring club. Rotary Club of Owerri Newtown is the first Club that has no sponsor Club in the District and Imo state in particular.
The formation of a New Rotary Club is so Challenging and on uphill task but the dogged spirit of our club adviser, Rtn Chukwuemeka Ohajunwa who was poised in achieving the District's goal actualised this dream. The Rotary club of Owerri Newtown got it's Charter from Rotary International on the 7th February, 2023..
